Billikens Rout Lindenwood to Conclude Non-Conference Slate

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University baseball used a three-run eighth inning to earn a victory over Lindenwood here Tuesday, defeating the Lions 9-4 at the Billiken Sports Center.

The five-run win completes the Billikens' three-game sweep over their in-state foe, after defeating the Lions on Feb. 21 (10-2) and April 23 (3-1).

SLU scored early in the mid-week contest, taking a 5-0 lead highlighted by home runs from Tyler Fogarty and Drew Winters. Brenden Stressler added to the Billikens' lead, driving in two RBIs of his own, in the freshman's seventh start of his collegiate career.

In the ensuing innings, the Lions clawed back, pulling within two (6-4) in the top of the seventh.

Chase Beattie iced the game for Saint Louis in the bottom of the eighth inning, blasting with a statement home run to center field to score Graham Mastros and Dominic Cusumano while giving the home team its 34th victory of the season.

The win not only exceeds the Billikens' win total from the 2023 season (33) but sends them into their weekend series with Dayton on a six-game winning streak.

The Atlantic 10 Conference's top team will welcome the second-place Flyers to town for a three-game series beginning Friday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. (CST).
